China's telecom industry revenue increased 10.7 percent year-on-year to 605.68 billion Yuan in the first ten months of 2007, according to Ministry of Information Industry (MII) data released on November 27. China had 531.4 million handset and 370.7 million fixed-line users by the end of October, up 70.4 million and 2.9 million users, respectively, since the end of 2006. Chinese handset users sent 483.8 billion SMS messages in the period, for an increase of 37.8 percent from the year-ago period. In 2007, Chinese broadband Internet users increased by 13.6 million to reach 64.4 million users.
